Why something rather than nothing?

A Make Me Italy event

Conference and dinner under the stars with the physicist Marco Miserocchi

  • When: Wednesday 26 June 2024 – h. 8 PM
  • Where: Locanda Il Casale (Collecchio, Parma)

“Why something rather than nothing” is the mother of all questions

the fundamental question of metaphysics, the First question or, better, the Ultimate question, beyond which it is not possible to go.

For some people this is a “poorly formulated”, “insignificant”, “crazy” question; for Heidegger however it is “the vastest, most profound and original” one, from which it is impossible to escape.

Exploration, Interconnection, Transcendence

There are hundreds of mythical-religious doctrines and philosophical theories that over the millennia have tried to give an answer, explaining how the universe was born, how a "something" could emerge from a primordial nothingness, but only at the beginning of the past century, modern physics has formulated conjectures and theories able to explain the origin of everything.
To do this, however, we had to accept the fact that the reality that surrounds us, and of which we are made, is much more absurd than our life form is able to grasp with its logic.

Make Me Italy, thinking at the words of Prof. Franco Berrino: "if we eat well, we stop time" (but does time exist?) or even: "the path to follow to live better is self-immersing in ourselves", supports a multidisciplinary attitude, inviting the physicist Marco Miserocchi who, at the end of his book, Omnium, indicates that same path as the last possibility of understanding the mysteries of life and cosmos.
Make Me Italy wants to start a project full of transversal events, organized at the makers' headquarters: this first one with a banquet on a summer evening, on a lawn, under a starry sky, where Dr. Miserocchi will tell us about the mysteries of cosmos and his journey of inner research, through the discovery of the curious behavior of the matter of which the universe is made.
